OGUN-OSHUN RBDA HOLDS RAMADAN LECTURE

The Ogun-Oshun River Basin Development Authority Muslim community on Wednesday, 27th March 2024 holds the Annual Ramadan Lecture. The event was held at the Authority's headquarters, Alabata Road, Abeokuta

 

The Managing Director/CEO, Otunba Olufemi Odumosu FNIWE FNAHS while delivering his keynote address at the event highlighted the spiritual and physical significance of fasting and it means a private act of worship which brings about nearness to God, as well as a form of spiritual discipline and a means of empathizing with those who are less privilege through the practice of Zakat.

The Managing Director/CEO said fasting also played an important aspect in the physical well-being of the individuals which includes the detoxification of the body and improved metabolic health through improved mental clarity and concentration which can be especially beneficial in the workplace, he said fasting during Ramadan has a very spiritual significance as it is a means of spiritual purification and moral elevation through refraining from worldly desires.

THE GUEST LECTURER SHEIK HABIBLAH ADAM DELIVERY THE LECTURE TITLED "AL-JIHAD FIHSEBILILAH" SPENDING FOR THE SEEK OF ALLAH.


The guest lecturer, Sheik Habiblah Adam while delivering the lecture titled "Al-Jihad: Fihsebililah" Spending for the seek of Allah and he said Allah so much appreciate and reward all righteous spending seek towards Him. He said Islam teaches the Muslims to be very hardworking, to seek wealth through righteous means and spend it on us, family, community and charity.

 

He said it is an obligation given to every Muslims and He Allah will reward us on such. Furthermore, he said it is the duty of the rich to take care of the poor.

 

Sheik Adam said in a Hadith, Prophet Muhammad (Pbuh) said "Spend according to your means; and not hoard, for Allah will be withheld from you". He said those who spend their wealth in Allah's ways by night and by day, secretly and publicly, will be rewarded by the Lord and no fear would there be concerning them, nor would they grieve.

 

The Guest Lecturer said while spending the way of Allah, Muslims must give as much as they can, but must do so with moderation and thanked and praised the Managing Director/CEO for the construction of a befitting mosque in the Authority's Headquarters for the staff and even outsiders to observe their daily prayers.

 

He said it is very rear in our society for a Christian person to donate a land for siting a mosque and even go steps further to ensure that the project is completed and also observed yearly prayers in the Mosque with the Muslims family. He prayed for Allah guidance and blessing on the Managing Director and the Authority in general.

 

Earlier in his welcome address, the Authority's Chief Imam, Engr. Ajesola Fasasi welcomed the gathering to the event and said the event is the fourth in the series of the lecture which the Managing Director/CEO has always be present.

In his goodwill message at the occasion, the Executive Director, Planning and Design, Engr. Azeez Adeoye called on all staff to embrace love and brotherhood in their daily dealings in the discharge of the duties.
