BE VIGILANT WHEN HANDLING FIRE GADGETS – FEDERAL FIRE SERVICE

The Federal Fire Service has warned the staff of the Authority to be vigilant when handling fire gadgets in their various offices and homes.

The Superintendent of Fire, Ilesanmi Paul of the Federal Fire Service, Ogun State Command gave the advice when addressing the staff of the Authority at the 2023 Fire and Safety Awareness Training organized by the Management for members of staff.

 

He said fire do not know language, culture, class and color as it can cause havoc when not properly handle and can be of usefulness purpose in the home for cooking and other domestic uses.

Ilesanmi advised people to always switch off all electric appliances when leaving the offices and homes and also ensure that they remove plugs from sockets to prevent electricity surge.

 

He explained to the gathering the various usefulness of the different fire extinguishers and how they can be applied to extinguish different fire outbreak.

 

 He advised that every household should have a fire blank as this help in escaping through fire incident.

 

The Superintendent of Fire informed the gathering of the need to always visit the Fire Service before embarking in the construction of their houses and business offices in other for the Service to advise on the type of fire preventive measures to put in place.

 

Earlier, the Managing Director/CEO, Otunba Olufemi Odumosu while declaring the training open said as a responsible organization, the Authority put together the awareness training programme to sensitize staff of the dangers and catastrophic effects of fire, as well as the various safety measures to apply to in case of an emergency.

 

He said it is important to understand the potential causes of fire and take necessary steps to prevent it and that certified electrical equipment should be used, likewise people should avoid overloading of sockets.

 

Odumosu said that fire and safety awareness should not be an option but a responsibility that all people must take seriously which inform the need to educate ourselves about fire safety and need to take necessary measures to prevent any kind of emergencies.

 

Highlights of the day was a practical sessions on how to extinguish various fire with different fire extinguishers that are available and fire blanket.
