Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, Okukenu IV, has expressed confidence in the ability of Dr. Engr. Adedeji Ashiru, FNSE, as the Managing Director/CEO of Ogun-Oshun River Basin Development Authority (O-ORBDA). He commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing Dr. Ashiru to lead the agency at this critical moment in the country’s history.
During a courtesy visit to the palace on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, Oba Gbadebo praised Dr. Ashiru’s bold steps, including channelization and flood control work at Isale Oja-Kuto and his interest in the new Abeokuta City Hall. The monarch noted that these efforts would bring relief to communities affected by perennial flooding.
Oba Gbadebo recalled his opposition to the initial appointment of an MD from outside the catchment area, praising President Tinubu for the timely correction. He prayed for Dr. Ashiru’s success, acknowledging their shared heritage as “brothers and sisters” despite being born of Ijebu parents.
Dr. Ashiru thanked Oba Gbadebo and Yoruba elders for their support, explaining his visit was part of a two-week tour to familiarize himself with the Authority’s projects and assets. He pledged to complete all projects started during his tenure and serve the catchment areas without fear or favor.
The MD/CEO was accompanied by EDs, Directors, and staff, and was received by the Apena of Egbaland, Chief Alani Bankole, Prof. Olaiya Balogun, and other chiefs.
